DOT Physicals

We offer DOT Physicals at our Onalaska location!

What Are DOT Physicals?

If you're a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) driver, federal law mandates regular physical exams to ensure you're fit to safely operate your vehicle. These exams, known as Department of Transportation (DOT) physicals, are designed to assess your physical, mental, and emotional health. The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has specific guidelines for these exams, and only certified medical examiners (CMEs) are authorized to perform them.

At River City Chiropractic, our team is certified to conduct DOT physicals, making sure you're ready to meet all the requirements for your commercial driver’s license (CDL).

What to Expect During Your DOT Physical

A DOT physical assesses several key areas of your health:

  • Vision and hearing tests
  • Blood pressure and pulse check
  • Overall physical fitness

If you use corrective lenses or hearing aids, be sure to bring them to the exam. You'll also need to provide a complete list of any medications you're currently taking, including dosages and prescribing doctors. No fasting is required before your exam, so feel free to eat as normal.

Who Needs a DOT Physical?

DOT physicals are required for anyone operating a CMV, including:

  • Delivery drivers
  • Over-the-road (OTR) truck drivers
  • Dump truck drivers
  • Landscapers and lawn care specialists
  • Drivers of DOT-registered vehicles

If you use corrective lenses or hearing aids, be sure to bring them to the exam. You'll also need to provide a complete list of any medications you're currently taking, including dosages and prescribing doctors. No fasting is required before your exam, so feel free to eat as normal.
